Twenty-five years ago, I watched the Twin Towers crumble from a portable tv, all I could afford as a medical intern. Despite the blurry, four-inch, black and white screen, I will never forget the dark smoke billowing from the top of the North Tower. The second plane crashing into the South shortly after. The Twin Towers rose above the Manhattan skyline, symbolizing US power and grandeur, but exposed vulnerability. The skyscrapers toppled in slow motion, an unfathomable horror that pulled our spirits down into the rubble both locally and globally. But out of the ashes, Manhattan was rebuilt. Out of the ashes, rose inspiration for the Hippocratic Troth Book Two.
